Privacy Policy

• Account information. Your name, email address, and sign-in method, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. We never see or store your password.
• Phone number (optional). If you claim the free trial, we verify a phone number (via Clerk) solely to keep the free tier fair — one trial per person. We never use it for marketing and never share it.
• Payment information. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and transaction references — never your card number.
• Content you upload. Assignment files (syllabus, brief, rubric, notes, writing samples), the text extracted from them, and the outlines and drafts you create. These are stored in our database and file storage, hosted on Supabase.
• Usage analytics. Product events (e.g. which features you use) via PostHog, used to improve the product.
• Error diagnostics. Crash and error reports via Sentry. Reports are scrubbed of personal information — emails, names, and your writing never appear in error logs.

• To provide the service: your uploaded materials are sent to our AI model provider solely to generate the outlines, drafts, and reviews you request.
• To manage your subscription, credits, and billing.
• To send transactional email (receipts, account notices) via Resend, respecting your notification preferences.
• To understand product usage and fix bugs.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your papers to advertise to you.

• Original uploaded files are kept for 30 days, then automatically deleted from storage. The extracted text remains in your account so your papers keep working.
• Your papers, drafts, and settings are kept while your account is active.
• One-click account deletion. From Settings you can delete your account at any time. Your sign-in and stored files are removed immediately, and all remaining account data is permanently purged within 30 days; we retain only records we are legally required to keep (e.g. billing records held by Stripe).

We share data with the following processors, only as needed to run the service: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and file storage), our AI model provider (generation you request), Resend (transactional email), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error tracking), Vercel (hosting), Inngest (background job processing), and Upstash (rate limiting).

When we verify your citations, we look up the works you cite (titles, authors, DOIs) against scholarly databases such as Crossref, OpenAlex, and Semantic Scholar. Only citation metadata is sent — never your name, account details, or the body of your paper.

• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, portability, correction, deletion) — contact us to exercise them.
